This project began with a Yerfdog go-kart my neighbor had started to
modify.

You can see where he traded the stock motor and drive for a Honda dirt
bike engine. This kart was off to a good start but needed a major
suspension upgrade and some fine tuning. Unfortunately my digital
camera was dead during the build process so I don't have any pictures
while I was working on it. |
I took this is for a size comparison against my Murray 40" riding
lawnmower. In
this pic I had the carb apart since the breather assembly I made failed
its first time in the woods and it sucked in muddy swamp water.
The
22" balloon knobbies really give this some bite.
The
front came form a Yamaha yfm200dx that I recently blew the motor and
rear end on.

Of course being a manual I needed a way to shift it. this shifter
is setup for 1,n,2,3,4. So if you push forward from neutral you
will be in first.
For
the rear I upgraded the shocks. These still need some tweaking to
take some of the bounce out of the ride. You can also see that it
is a kick start.
I
also had to add an additional peddle for the clutch. To make room
for the front end I had to cut some of the old kart back and move the
peddles back about 6 inches. This caused a problem with the
steering since it was so low I could not lift my foot high enough to
switch peddles. So the steering had to be cut off and moved up
several inches. |
